The connectors are probably not matching. The pins on the GUS are
right-ground-ground-left, while some CD connectors are r-g-l-g.

Yes, if you have enough free I/O addresses, DMA channels, and IRQs.

IMO, a 1 MB GUS is sufficient for midi and cached digital sounds, if
your game is intelligent enough to cache only the instruments and
sound effects it needs for a particular segment, stage, cut sequence,
whatever. A typical MIDI piece uses about 15 instruments, which will
usually fit into 512kB of GUS RAM (if not at 16-bit, then at 8-bit),
leaving the remaining 512kB available to cache sound effects.

Mega-Em uses ultrasnd.ini. The AIL32's use patches.ini and, I believe,
ultrasnd.ini. Forget about customizing patches for games. Too much
hassle since so many drivers share configuration files.

You probably do not have enough EMS/XMS (whatever the game uses)
for the digital sounds.

gail3214.zip from EPAS.

I know this has been discussed before, but I just got my GUS and I have a few
questions about all the upgrades out there. Should I get the latest version?
What are the filenames? What will it do for me?
Also, I know what a .mod is, but what are .669's and .gts's?
Thanks for the help.

Subject: Sam&Max and GUS
I finally got around to buying the game and just finished installing
it, but.. nope, no native GUS support (boo) and megaem 2.02 won't
work, and even SBOS (2.08 I believe) won't do a thing.
What do I need to do to get sound out of this thing? DOTT worked fine
with SBOS..
Thanks already;

Subject: Star Trek 25th Anniversary CD-ROM version
Just upgraded from the disk version of Star Trek the 25th Anniversary to
the Enhanced CD-ROM version. The old version worked fine, but I can't
get the sound-FX and digitized speech in the CD-ROM version to work
(only the background music works). I called the tech support at
Interplay and they said they would look into it (and suggested
contacting Gravis for help).
I'm running a 386-40DX, 20 MB RAM, 1 MB GUS, QEMM 7.03 memory manager.
If anyone has an idea or has gotten the CD-ROM version to work, please
let me know (via BBS or Directly). Thanks...
-Dave
